                      Drafted in the 21st round of the 1910 draft by the Syracuse Sunspots. (Pick #251)

                      Drafted in the 8th round in 1911 by the Gashouse Gorillas. (Pick #81)


              Young was  2nd in the AL with 15 saves in 1910. He was a member of the 1911 SCL Champion Gashouse Gorillas. He recorded a save in the ALCS, and then saved 2 games in the World Series, which included a Series deciding save in game 5. In Post Season play he tossed 4 innings allowing no runs and just 1 hit. His save on 10/27 was his last game pitched in the SCL.

  Irving Melrose Young went 20-21 in his 1905 Rookie season while pitching for a very bad Boston Doves’ team. He was 1 of 4 Doves’ pitchers to lose 20 games that season. He also lost 20 games in 1906 and 1907.
