                        Fred Boyd hit .326 with 31 hits and 3 Hrs in his last 20 games of the 1921 season withe the Gorillas. They were his only Hrs hit the SCL.

Fred Boyd was a Cleveland Tate Stars teammate of player/manager Candy Jim Taylor. The Stars were essentially an Independent Negro league team. They were in existence from 1919-1923. They played one season(1922) in the Negro National League, finishing with a 13-16-1 record, good for 8th place.

They disbanded as a team after the 1923 season.
