A pitcher's game. Both Rowe and Dean struck out 7 in the game. The scoreless tie was broken in the 6th when the Pines put together 4 straight singles, with Lou Gehrig and Mel Ott each driving in a run. That was all they needed.

More good pitching in this one. Trailing 1-0 in the 7th, the Skeeters took a 2-1 lead on a Rip Collins 2-run home run. That woke up the Pines’ bats in the bottom of the inning.

More good pitching, all by Devens. He tossed a 2-hit CG, allowing just 1 unearned run. Mel Ott hit 2 home runs in an easy Pines victory.

Curt Davis vs Schoolboy Rowe
Mel Ott hit a 2-out 2-run double in the 1st, to put the Pines up 2-0.
Rip Collins hit a 2-run home run in the Skeeters' 3rd, and Pepper Martin had an rbi triple to put them up 3-2.
Rowe settled down tossing 6 scoreless innings. With the Skeeters up 4-2 in the 8th, the DMB engine decided to take Rowe out of the game bringing in Spike Merena in relief. Merena gave up a double and 2 walks to load the bases, 2 rbi groundouts, and an rbi single by Ski Melillo put the Pines up 5-4.
A 2-out error by Slade at short extended the inning, allowing the Skeeters to tie the score on a Rip Collins single.
Babe Ruth hit a solo home run in the 9th, which proved to be the series winner.

Bobby Burke vs Slim Jones
The Warbird led 3-1 heading into the 7th, then Slim Jones fell apart.
3 singles, a passed ball, 2 more singles, and a Bill Terry double put the Caterpillars up 5-3.
The Warbirds answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning with a Chuck Klein double doing the damage.
The Caterpillars scratched out a run in the 8th to tie the score 6-6.
In the Warbird 8th Josh Gibson said, "Hold my beer." crushing a 3-run home run to win it for the Warbirds.

Willie Foster vs Carl Hubbell
With what seems like a typical Willie Foster start for the Caterpillars, Foster took a 2-0 lead into the 6th, and BOOM, 3 runs for the opposing team. A Gus Suhr triple and a Sam West double provided the boom, giving the Warbirds a 3-2 lead.
Atypical of a Willie Foster start, the Caterpillars pulled out the victory, scoring 3 runs in the 8th on 3 singles and a Warbirds error. Johnny Broaca, and Lefty Stewart combined to hold the Warbird hitless over the final 3 innings.

After the Warbirds scored 2 in the 1st, Babe Herman erased that early lead with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the inning. His solo home run in the 3rd put the Caterpillars up 4-2. Herman's lead-off double in the 6th led to 2 more Caterpillar runs and a 6-2 lead.
In the Warbirds' 8th, they batted around against Broaca and Stewart. 5 singles, a Jimmie Dykes double, and an error led to 6 runs and the Warbirds' comeback victory was complete.

Burke walked 9 Warbirds before being removed in the 6th. Luckily for the Caterpillars, the Warbirds were unable to capitalize, scoring just 1 run off of Burke.
In the Caterpillar 8th Babe Herman tripled and scored on a Buddy Myer single to put the Caterpillars ahead 2-1.
Johnny Broaca got the final 3 outs for the Caterpillars.

The Warbirds scored a run in the 4th on a Gus Suhr rbi groundout and a run in the 5th on a Billy Jurges sac fly.
Trailing 2-0 in the 8th the Caterpillars scored on a Dick Bartell double. Bartell was stranded when Babe Herman and Bill Terry grounded out to end the inning.
In the Caterpillar 9th, Carl Reynolds doubled with 2-outs. Pinch hitter Jo-Jo White struck out to end the game.
