The 1926 SCL All-Star game, hosted by the Southport Spiders at Dunn Field was played before a less than capacity crowd of 5. Jim Copeland (Spiders) managed the NL squad, and Kevin G.(Skeeters) and Mike Murphy (Miners) coached and cheered on the AL Squad. Tim Deale (Storm) and Jimmy Keenan (Terrapins) drank all the beer and passed out in the 5th inning.

The game started out exactly as planned for the AL. Cool Papa Bell singled to lead off the game and moved to 2nd on a Jud Wilson single. They pulled off a double steal, with Bell then scoring on a Martin Dihigo sac fly. Wilson inexplicably got thrown out trying to steal 3rd, ending a potential rally for the AL.

The NL answered back, after Jud Wilson booted a ground ball to 1st, leading to 2 unearned runs for the NL.   NL 2- AL 1

In the bottom of the 2nd with Dewey Creacy on 1st, Jud Wilson misplayed a sac bunt by Pete Alexander, allowing Alexander to reach1st on a gift infield single. With 2 outs Halley Harding singled in Alexander, and the NL pulled off a double steal of their own, with Charleston stealing home on the front end.  NL 4  AL 1

The pitchers settled down until the 6th, but Mule Suttles parked a 3 run HR in the bottom of the 6th to put the NL up 7-1.

Any chance of an AL comeback ended when Goose Goslin dropped a flyball in the 8th, leading to 4 unearned runs for the NL.

FINAL;  NL.  11   AL   4

The MVP choice was a tough one, but Mule Suttles' (Dreamers) 3-run HR was the ultimate game-breaking hit.
