A 2 out pinch hit single by Lou Gehrig in the in the 5th, and a pinch hit rbi double by Edgar Wesley put the AL. up 8-6, a lead they would not relinquish.
Nip Winters finished the game with 3 innings of relief finishing the game with a 1/2/3 9th inning.
All-Star MVP Cool Papa Bell had 2 hits and 3 rbi, but his 7 putouts in CF, including 5 that were ticketed for base hits, was the difference in the game.
